DESCRIPTION:We have limited spaces for students grades 3 to 12 to attend our Drummin’ in Some Summer Fun week-long music program July 18-22\, 2022. Thanks to our generous donors\, this day camp is heavily subsidized and costs just $20 for each student (grades 3 – 12 welcome). A healthy lunch & snack will be provided. \nJuly 18-22\, 2022 \nDoors will open for drop off at 9:00 am \nClasses will begin at 9:30 am sharp \nPick up between 2:30-2:45 pm \nLocation: 2285 Clearbrook Road (look for our banner) \nCost $20 per student (if this is a hardship\, please reach out to us) \nThere will be four one-hour classes\, a 45-minute lunch\, and a couple of quick restroom breaks. Students will play different types of drums and enjoy choir & other arts activities. \nBMA is open to all Abbotsford youth but we give priority to students from low-income and single-parent families. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join us for our annual fundraising run & walkathon at Mill Lake in Abbotsford on Sunday\, May 1\, 2022. Participants are welcome to walk\, run\, or bike around beautiful Mill Lake. According to Google\, one loop around the lake is 2 km. \n  \nDon’t feel like coming out? That’s okay! You can also join our walkathon virtually. Walk anytime in April before May 1st\, record your progress\, raise some money\, take some photos\, and send in your pledges.  \n  \nHOW YOUR PARTICIPATION HELPS BAKERVIEW MUSIC ACADEMY \nSince 2013\, Bakerview Music Academy has given Fraser Valley youth access to professional after-school El Sistema music lessons\, with priority given to children from low-income\, single-parent\, and large families. Admission to BMA is very inclusive and open to all Abbotsford students – there is no audition process. We have children who are new to Canada and many who are Canadian by birth but representative of a wide variety of cultures. \nCountless studies demonstrate that children who take music lessons perform better academically and socially. Often cost is a barrier and typically lower income families would not have access to classical music studies. We are proud that BMA levels the playing field. \nBeth Nickel led the string program at Bakerview Music Academy (BMA) for six years and was a kind\, encouraging\, and wise influence in the lives of our many students. She was greatly loved and is deeply missed! During her treatment for cancer\, Beth said she would choose joy each day. Join us to choose joy and remember Mrs. Beth’s love for music and her community by raising money to support BMA. \nOur mission is to nurture and develop Abbotsford kids by making music together. In addition to giving students from all backgrounds the wonderful gift of making music in a safe space\, we also empower our students as they learn self-expression\, achievement\, teamwork\, and leadership.
