I fell in love with the El Sistema philosophyof BMA, and found opportunity to volunteershortly after. The more involved I becamewith BMA, the more I saw the transformation that music was having in the lives ofthe students – increased focus, confidence, new friendships, nutrition – things I believe all kidsneed in theirlives. I believe,as it says in our mission statement, thatBMA really is aplatform forsocial change.

After threeyears as a classroom volunteer, I realized that mypassion for BMA had grown and that I wanted to be more effective as a volunteer. I approached members of the board to see if there couldbe a place for me to serve, provide input, and be part of the future direction of BMA.

Our team of board members is seeking tobuild an even stronger foundation this yearso that BMA has the right structure and systems in place to grow even more, allowingmore kids to be part of this effective program!
